Nothing in ultrasound

Went today to my obgyn to confirm the pregnancy and the ultrasound showed nothing . He gave me a new due date 10-25-18 and then sent me to get blood work to confirm the pregnancy. Is this normal ? I’m 10 days late now and I know for a fact I started my last period 1-17-18 .
