I’m in a tough situation, what should I do?

My bf, friend & her fiancé all went out last night to celebrate my birthday. We went to Manhattan to try this burger place; however we were pushed for time because my bf had to be at work by 10 (he’s a club bouncer).

We get to the burger place & it’s safe to say it was way too crowded. We tried to find another place, I saw that bbq’s was close by in Times Square, so we decided to go there. It was SUPER crowded but got in line right before another crowd started. However, everything went downhill from there. The service was super slow, we were there almost an hour waiting for food, we were so pushed for time. People who came after us even go their food before us.

Once the food came, my bf asked for the manager, so he could ask for a discount, because there is no way we could sit & enjoy our food, due to the time. The manager never came & my bf said he was about to leave, then my friend & her fiancé said let’s go. So, all 3 of them walked out with their food without paying 😔 I would have NEVER done that, but I didn’t know what to do, I had to leave too, otherwise I was going to be stuck paying the entire bill myself. I would have just put money on the table for my food, but I didn’t have time to go into my purse & get the money.

I’m so upset, & I feel so guilty, because if it weren’t for me recommending we go there, none of this would have ever happened. What should I do?

Update: Thank you everyone for your opinions, I respect them. However, like I stated I was not going to be stuck with a bill of almost $200, that I know I wouldn’t get back. Furthermore, I did not want to be the blame of this, because I would never be ok with this! I told my parents (who are obviously extremely pissed), they understood where I am coming from, but want me to do the right thing (I definitely am going to do the right thing), and send the money for my food, with an apology note. This has never happened before that’s why I asked for advice & my bf has never ever done anything like this before, that’s why I’m in shock. But, again thank you.
