only have acne when I wash my face

I hardly ever have acne, and if I do it’s small breakouts around my jaw but never anything major. I used to never wash my face or use anything on it but some lotion and never had any issues. I’ve started to wash my face because it just feels dirty and now I’m starting to break out. I’ve tried multiple kinds and they always cause me to break out and I dont understand. Does it just take time for my skin to get used to it or do I need to keep switching products.

My skin isn’t oily (except around my nose), it’s pretty “normal”; any suggestion for a good face wash, I prefer cheap (under $15) but if it’s really worth it I’ll pay a decent price for it (under $40)
