Japanese- help!

I received these text messages from an old coworker of mine. He and I were friends while we worked together, then I quit, but we exchanged texts every so often. From these texts below, can someone tell me if he is in love with me, or just appreciates my kindness? Is this sort of love confession normal in Japan? Does "love" have the same impact here and there? What does he mean by "my mind is too dependent on your tenderness which is my weak mind"?
