Long distance relationship tips?

I’m in a long distance relationship and I hate the distance but our relationship is fairly new and we’re happy and good and we enjoy our time when we go visit each other. Have any of you been in a long distance relationship? How do you deal when things get hard? Any tips on how to make it easier while we’re long distance?

Ive been in a long distance relationship for 4 years! My biggest advice is to always have a trip planned to see each other, even if it’s like 60 days away just having that countdown and reassurance is really nice.

Talk to each other about what you each need in terms of communication. How often do you expect texts? A Skype/FaceTime call? Or a phone call before bed? If you have a routine and something comes up, be up front saying that plans changed and you won’t be able to chat then, but then make alternative arrangements. Lots of communication is needed, as well as finding other things to do local to keep yourself occupied and not focusing on the other. I knew my, now husband, for six or so years before we started dating but in the first year we did I saw him only 3 times due to him living across the country. Good luck! Also we found sending each other memes or something little to smile about throughout the day helped too.

I met my husband almost five years ago and for three of those we were long distance. It is hard but definitely worth it. Wed  months without seeing each other but you make it work.
