Spotting?

Is minimal spotting normal during the first trimester? I’m 5 weeks 2 days and notice that when I wipe I have brown discharge. It’s very minimal but I’m still concerned.

brown usually means old blood, it's usually bright red blood or clots that are a cause for concern. I've recently had some spotting but I've been getting it for a few weeks so I got sent for an early scan on Monday; I found out that not only do I have one healthy baby but I have TWO healthy babies! My spotting ended today, it from pink at the beginning of the week to brown & now its gone. They found a cause for mine though during the vaginal scan. I always always always tell people that if you're concerned in anyway just call your doctor or midwife because it's better to be safe than sorry! I just wanted to let you know I've had spotting & my babies are perfectly healthy! ☺️✨

I had spotting every so often during 1st and 2nd trimester - mine was due to a “fragile cervix.” I was told unless there’s cramping and/or enough bleeding to fill up a pad in an hour or two, then it’s usually not a concern, but I would still contact your OB or triage nurse to inform them any time you have spotting.
