How early did you start to pump?

Hi, FTM to a 5 day old! 💙 I wanted to start pumping to store just in case. 
Is there such a thing to start pumping to early? 
Will it mess up or help my supply?

I started pumping in the hospital almost immediately. Now I have a HUGE supply. I believe the more milk you pump and feed, the more milk your body will create.

My dr suggested starting to pump right away. I started the second day we were home from the hospital, just once a day.

I didn't start pumping until my daughter was like 8 weeks old. It definitely took a few days for my body to catch up and she was mad for those days. My doctor told me she started pumping in the hospital so she would have an over supply and could pump and store milk for when she went back to work.

My lactation consultant specialist says no pumping for atleast 2 weeks but they prefer 4 to build adequate supply.
