Why do you get lightening crotch?

Is there a reason why you get "lightening crotch"? i got it with my first every now and then. I am 33 weeks and getting it every couple of minutes and it actually hurts. It has made me cringe and tighten up my vagina when it happens. Any thoughts?

I'm 33 weeks as well and I'm just assuming that when I get it it's baby being low and hitting a nerve. With my daughter it started around this time as well. It's such a pain!! (Pun intended lol)

I believe it’s just nerves. I’ve had it before and not been pregnant

I’m 11 weeks and w everything stretching I will get a sharp pain down there that every time I will double over and cross my legs

I think it's just pressure in nerves. This is my 5th and I have had it on and off since the end of my 1st trimester.
