Uk different everywhere else ?

Silly question 🤷🏻‍♀️😝I keep seeing ladies posting about having there hcg bloods done most weeks ? Here in the uk I don’t think we do that ? Sounds silly but I’m 17 weeks and only blood I’ve had taken is at my booking appointment with my midwife for screenings of things ? Can some one explain why ladies have  hcg bloods done ? 
Also if you know of any differences between the whole process of pregnancy I.e we have midwifes you may call them something different 😃
I’m just really curious of the diffrence between places 😆

In the USA ladies will have medical insurance, and each insurance policy will cover something different. Ladies tend to have “betas” done, which is where their HCG is tested over the course of a certain number of days. I’m in the UK and obviously never had this done and I much prefer it that way. I see women freak out all the time when their numbers haven’t exactly doubled and most of the time everything is fine but it just causes more worry. A lot of ladies also seem to have more scans depending on their personal doctors. Their pregnancy care is usually lead by an OB/GYN whereas ours is midwife lead as long as there’s no need for a consultant. There are quite a few differences but we all get babies in the end 😄

Typical blood test are only done if requested by the mom. Or if there have been previous issues with pregnancy like miscarriage. So they want
To make sure levels are rising properly.
It is different here in the us, most women see a ob(doctors) for their pregnancy and they deliver the baby aswell. If a pregnant woman wants a midwife they have to look for an office that has midwives.
I’m planning a homebirth and have hired a midwife. With my first I was at birth center run by midwives, but unfortunately ended up in the hospital and was induced and led to a C-section with drs.

I’m in the US and with my first, I NEVER had my HCG checked. With #2, i had some bleeding, so they checked it. I think it’s more common if you have fertility issues or previous miscarriages.

Here in Australia the weekly blood draws to test the HCG level isn’t usually done unless you have a history of miscarriage or you’ve had complications such as spotting and are testing the HCG to see if a pregnancy will be viable or not.
