is pumping every other day okay?

Question

I pump one session every other day so I can stock up so milk for an emergency. is this okay? I don't usually drain my breast when I do it.

When I was trying to build my stash I pumped once in the morning after baby nursed & fell asleep. I pumped both sides until empty (about 5-7oz) and froze it. I nursed on demand all day and then pumped again after baby was down for the night, again both sides until empty (about 5-7oz) and froze it. I did this for 3 weeks and got a pretty good stash. Now I pump as needed. If I get engorged I pump, if I know I need to be away from baby for an extended amount of time I pump and store before I leave & pump when I get home as I’m usually engorged and baby isn’t hungry bc she’s usually just had a bottle. Some days I don’t pump at all.

I would probably at least pump twice a day if you want to build up a stash. 
When at home on maternity leave with my baby girl, I pumped first thing in the morning, and at night. I was able to save quite a bit. Some days I would throw an extra pumping session in in the afternoon, but not always. 
Now that I’m working I pump 8am, 11am, 2:30pm, and then feed when I’m home and throughout the night.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be ok. I pump on and off for my LO. Sometimes only once every couple weeks if I know I’ll be leaving him for a while longer than normal. You may just not get as much out as if you pumped regularly but I don’t think you have any negative impacts to worry about.
