Waiting to TTC after BC - why?

Hi everyone - recently off BC for first time in about 11 years, the husband and I are ready to start TTC and gyn suggested we wait until one natural cycle occurs post pill until we official try, using condoms until that point and using OPKs to learn more about ovulation. 
Does anyone know why she suggested this waiting period? Just curious who else was told the same and if an explanation followed. I have some friends who were told longer and others who didn’t have to wait at all.

I read that it’s got to do with calculating the delivery day. If your are pregnant then they calculate your pregnancy from the date your last period started. When you come off the pill, that’s not your natural period, the first bleed is a false bleed. So if you get pregnant right after that, they have difficulty calculating the dates as it was a false period. Not a good enough reason to wait I think if you really want to start!

I went off a month ago and TTC. The only reason I can think of is to ensure your period comes back... I’ve had some friends go off it and only get their period 4 times in an entire year. I was 6 days late this month but it finally came. I haven’t heard of any reasons to wait... nor read anything like that. She didn’t give a reason?

There isn't really a reason to wait, maybe the doc was just saying after the next natural cycle will mean your body is on its own. BC can remain in your body awhile, but I think you should be ok to try mow.
