Killing poachers - right or wrong

Based on the discussion about trophy hunting: in some places in India and Africa (don’t know for sure if it’s also practiced somewhere else) it has become common practice for rangers or private military to shoot poachers on sight to protect wildlife.

What do you think about that? Is this the right way to approach the extinction of some species or could there be a better solution? If so, what solutions would you suggest?

My opinion: I do not condone murder but I get where they are coming from. More and more species are endangered or extinct cause of greed and trophy hunting. There are laws but poachers do not care about them and it’s hurting our planet and our wildlife.
