Is there such thing as justifiable terrorism?

Hey CC!! 👋🏽 I’ve been keeping pretty busy but I had this discussion with a few friends and figured it be a nice change in CC.
Defined as “a systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion”, can terrorism be justified?

The US was arguably founded on terroristic acts, but since we won we call them patriots. We certainly teach it in schools as justified. 
However, that was acts against an occupying armed force. If we expand the definition to acts of terror on civilians, I’m going with a hard no.

People need to learn that with violence, we cant fix anything.
However destruction of the one who destroyed you is the logic behind it and i do tend to understand where this hate is all coming from. 
I abhor the idea of terrorism and i would never justify it. However if you blow up someones whole family, you killed their home, their spouses, their children and you leave them with nothing ( eg. Palestinians in the Gulf/ a lot of Serbians/Bosnians and just generally eastern block or NI) i dont see how you would expect them to sit down and then have “peace talks”.

I don't think so because even if you say the ends justify the means, the ends of terrorism aren't desirable. Making people afraid just isn't useful.

No, terrorism & violent coercion are never justified. Self defense is justified though, but there is a massive difference between the two. That’s literally the only thing like that that is reasonable or justifiable.
