Woman left her 2YO in the car whilst she did errands

So here in the UK one of the biggest stories at the moment is this.

A woman had her two year old in the car and needed to nip somewhere quickly so left the car parked and locked with her daughter inside.

When she came back her car was nowhere to be found and she subsequently reported it as stolen to the police.

Unfortunately, what had actually happened was the car rolled into the river with her daughter in the back, belted up. Her daughter drowned and died.

Now the justice system and courts are going for manslaughter. But here in the UK some people are up in arms about this as they believe it was ‘an accident’ and that every parent needs ‘two minutes to run an errand’.

What are your thoughts?

Personally I think it’s neglect and she should be punished but I’d find the sentence harder to work out as I can only imagine how much grief and guilt she must be feeling.
