AUGH! Dry AND oily skin!? HOW! How do I treat this??

The skin on my face is both flaky AND oily. I have no idea how the fork this is even possible, but it’s true. I’ve tried moisturizers without any oil in it, I’ve tried face masks, I’m just about to give up! HELP😩

your skin is probably oily and dehydrated, you should look up liah yoo’s video on the skin barrier on youtube and she gives great advice and explains the science behind it and some tips! there’s also a lot of other articles on oily dehydrated skin out there that were super helpful, but yeah that’s probably why your skin is oily and flaky at the same time

So there’s a common misconception that oily skin is hydrated because of the oil on it. This is actually incorrect. Usually your skin will become dehydrated and try to compensate by producing excess oil. Try using Skyn Iceland cloud moisturizer, I have combination skin too and it really works wonders. It’s light enough for the oily parts and penetrating enough for the dry, patchy places. Use hydrating sheet masks too, Target and city market sell them for a dollar a piece. Use one every few days and moisturize twice a day. Before moisturizing, wash your face and splash some cool (but not cold) water on it. Pat dry, moisturize. You should see both problems go away in a week or two. After these problems are evened out, start exfoliating gently with a sugar scrub 1-2 times a week. I recommend freeman black sugar and charcoal scrub.

I started using the CeraVe nightly moisturizer religiously, and while it hasn’t 100% cleared up my oily spots, it’s helped control it! I use Biore’s baking soda acne scrub about 1-2 times a week, and really focus on my t-zone. But getting into the routine of moisturizing every night has helped so much! And it’s a thicker type of lotion.
