Freaking out! HPV?

Question

So I just found out my mom has HPV, and has had it since she was pregnant with me. I'm 20 years old. I don't know anything about it really. Could I have it too? I was a C section baby so I didn't come into contact with it vaginally, but I for some reason thought it was also a blood thing? I'm just terrified of having it. I've had bloodwork done in my 20 years of living and no one has ever told me I had it. I haven't had a pap smear yet because I'm not 21. I'm scared because I know it can be sexually transmitted. I had unprotected sex with one person a few years ago. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but could someone please educate me and ease my mind! Thanks.

Just go get tested to ease your mind. No one on here can tell you whether or not you have it, regardless of whether or not it's a possibility. Good luck.

You can have a pap smear at any age. You need to go to a gynecologist for an exam if you're worried.

If your doctor won’t test you, go to a plan parenthood clinic & they will. The only way to know is by a Pap smear. I wish you the best of luck.

Go get tested. Everyone I know has had or has HPV. It’s really really common. I had it for about a year and my body fought it off. A lot of men carry it but right now there’s no way to test if a man has it. That’s the problem. I had my first Pap smear at 16. What are you waiting for?

Why do you have to wait until you’re 21 for your Pap smear? I could get one when you become sexually active.

First of all you can have Pap smears as early as you want. Go and get one NOW. Google says you can get HPV in the womb but very uncommon.
