Period and sex and hpv?

I have search everywhere and talked with my doctor and I can’t seem to get the information I need to explain to my husband. So hopefully I’ll find some answers here...

My husband and I have been in a monogamous relationship and are extremely comfortable around each other and everything but. Before our relationship I contracted HPV as a teen. Saw a doctor and took the antiviral medicine, I get regular Pap smears and nothing has come back abnormal since. That was 8years ago.

So I’m trying to figure out if it’s safe for my husband and I to have sex on my period days? He is super paranoid, I have no idea why because we’ve been together for 5 years now, and we’ve done it before on my period, 😔 I’m just trying to justify it now. It just really hurt that he thinks my blood is dirty, I’m a super clean person and I definitely make sure my lady parts are clean 24/7 too.
