We don't have sex

My man and I are in love, live together, both work, both have jobs and our own friends and have a relationship that's based on a friendship of 12 years. We both have some serious stuff in our past that we're slowly opening up about but we've been intimate twice since he moved home and we officially became a couple. I can't help but feel a blow to my self esteem when he doesn't want to be intimate, even though he's the one who loves to cuddle and hold hands and gives random kisses all the time. I don't feel unloved or that we're not connecting or anything like that, but I do feel like something is missing because he doesn't want sex, and I can't help but wonder why that is.
