Ivf- transfer 1 or 2 embryos???

We went through Ivf last year and had a frozen transfer. We transferred 2 embryos and only one stuck. We have a beautiful 1 year old little girl now. We are wanting to do another transfer in July. Question is should we do 1 or 2 embryos. It will cost us about $4500 per transfer. So if we do one and it doesn’t stick, we pay again to do another. If we transfer two and only sticks, great! But if both stick, I’m not sure I could handle twins. I obviously would if that’s the route we go. But anyone else go through this? What would you do?

I would do one, because nobody actually wants twins (so many risks), and it only takes one. Pregnant 18 weeks with first IVF embryo :)

I have twins from transferring two,  one poor grade morula and one blast.  We had no choice but to transfer both because the morula was not looking great and they said it would likely not survive freezing.  We love our twins.  But if it was over money I would not do two.  One of them was in the NICU for 1 week and the other in the nursery for a few days. Breastfeeding was very tough to start out.  We spent 5 K on Nicu and Nursery bills alone and we were lucky ours were born at 37 weeks and my insurance covered delivery 100%. Had to spend a lot of private LC,  hospital grade pump etc. You don’t save money by having twins,  trust me.  We had zero ins coverage for IVF too.  About to do ivf 2 and with the new technology now and doing FET chances of twins are even higher.  There is no way I am transferring more then one,  even though we are self pay like you.  Thankfully my RE only does single embryo transfers for blast ones.

Maybe ask your RE’s recommendation. We are about to sign the transfer paper with our consent to transfer 1 or 2, we decided ask for my RE’s opinion for the highest chance. You’re right, for my first FET I’m gonna spend $1600 on the meds and $3000 on the clinic fee. It’s expensive.

Mom of a 2yo. Preg w #2. I personally wouldn’t even think of twins. Risks go up for everyone and let’s face it, one baby is hard enough!

I think only you should have the final decision, but personally I would go with 2 😊 not at the ivf stage yet but I think if I was in your shoes that’s what I would do. 💕✨
