BF and I too different?

Question

We don’t have much in common but we are compatible. He said he thinks we have personality conflicts.
I brought it up with him that I was having doubts about us and now I’m worried because I said that, now he’s starting to have doubts. 
He said to let him know now so he’s not wasting time. That really hurts....like we’ve been together for almost a year and haven’t said I love you. Maybe we don’t love each other but deeply care for one another. 
Is this relationship doomed?

It depends on how "different" you are--do you disagree on crucial things? My bf and I grew up in different countries, studied different things, and have different hobbies but it doesn't make me doubt the relationship. Being different isn't bad and it sounds like it's not necessarily causing conflicts for you two. But if you don't love each other, that's a whole different issue and a very significant one after nearly a year
