Thoughts on Depo Shot...Tips?

Hey ladies, my periods have always been terrible, as in excruciating pain to where I can barely get out of bed each period, but as of recently, they've been worse than ever, and my brother's girlfriend was talking to me about how she doesn't have her period very much anymore ever since she's been on the Depo shot, and of course, hearing that, I was like, "heck yes! I want to try it if it makes your period go away or even does as much as make it so it's not terrible." So, I started doing some research on this shot, and I've read good things about it along with bad things such as weight gain and things like that. So, I want to hear your guys's opinions on it, and if you've ever been on it, how was it? Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
