Is it weird I made my own baby shower cake?

My mom had been planning my shower for months. I’m her youngest and only daughter.. so she was definitely going over board. I wasn’t suppose to know much about the shower, but I asked about the cake. I’ve been making cakes and cupcakes as a little side job/hobby. She told me she found someone to make one off the Facebook buy n sells. I felt weird asking, but I told her I would love to go out of my comfort zone and try something I hadn’t done before. I told her if I messed up while making it, I wouldn’t be disappointing a client but only myself! I also told her that it would be free compared to the $100 she was quoted. She finally agreed but it was strange being asked by 20+ people at the shower if I made it.

Just wanted your guys opinions.
