ok, does this make me a f__k buddy??

Question

I've been dating this guy for a little over a month. We've been on 12 or so dates, REAL dates. He picks me up, brings me flowers, takes me out and is a complete gentleman. We've talked every day since our first date a month ago, and he makes a massive effort to check in with me. I've felt a strong connection with him. 
And yes, we have had sex a handful of times. Not every date we have includes physical intimacy though, I must note. 
Yesterday he just dropped the bomb on me that he is afraid of getting into a relationship but he wants to keep dating. I know he has feelings for me because I get the good morning texts every day, he tells me I'm the only girl he is seeing and goes out of his way to tell me I'm amazing frequently.
He is such a sweet guy, and I want to continue to invest in him. however, I fear that he may never ask me to be his girlfriend even though we are behaving as a couple.
What should I do?

It's only a month in, maybe he just needs time. I'd say keep spending time with him and see if it grows into something stronger over the next few months as well

My boyfriend did the same thing to me. 
Ex’s have a lot to do with these things and they way guys act. He’ll come around eventually but if you’re in it 5 months and he still hasn’t made it official, sounds like he’d be getting the cow for free so why should he have to buy it. (Expression my grandma used when I was younger)

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t invest any further in him if you are looking for a serious relationship. He is telling you that he is emotionally unavailable, but that he wants to have his cake and eat it too. He’s putting in all that effort (flowers, taking you out, etc.), but he’s afraid to be in a relationship? Something about that doesn’t line up to me. Follow your own intuition, you know the situation best, but this is just what I would do based on what you’ve said here. Personally, I know what I want and I know that if I am looking for a serious relationship, it won’t happen with someone who is emotionally unavailable. Maybe I would leave it open and tell him that when he’s not afraid anymore to let you know.

My current boyfriend and I started out like that. he's just getting out of a marriage and currently separated(I know it sounds weird.. it's hard to explain.) But he said to me he doesn't want anything serious. But as time went on I gave him a few talks and we sat down and had a talk. And now he's thinking of staying only with me and building a future. And then more talks later we are as close as ever. so maybe have the talk if you want to be serious or see where it does go. best of luck.

He may just need time, you never know what he went through in the past. If you connect on a deeper level, it will go somewhere. Trust your intuition on this
