Baby swim school?

Ok so my son is 3 months old. The other day I was taking him a bath and the sling I lay him on popped off and if it wasn’t for me being there he could of drowned so I started looking for baby swim schools and I found one 5 minutes away from my house on saturdays from 12:30-1:00 the classes are free just had to pay 50 dollars registration for the whole year. I thought this is great because accidents happen what if I had stepped away for that one second or something so I told my husband I want to enroll my son into this baby swim school and he said I was “stupid” and “rushing” things and that he is too small to learn to swim but I think it’s better to know that my son will be safe around water if anything was to occur and so I enrolled him and now my husband is annoyed with me. Am I being reasonable?

Do it! I would if any were offered near me. I’ve seen videos of little babies around 6 or so months learn how to flip themselves so they’re floating and don’t drown. As they age they’ll start teaching them more and more things. You’re not rushing anything. I’d say you’re taking preventative measures to ensure your baby’s safety because accidents do happen. Plus a lot of babies love playing in the water.

I mean at that age he’s just going to have fun. He isn’t going to learn anything. It might help him get comfortable being in the water but he isn’t going to learn to swim. I’m starting swimming soon at 1, but it’s mostly something for us to do. You can’t leave a baby in the bath tub alone even for 1 second. If you forgot something you take the baby with you.

We have our guy (11 months) enrolled in swim classes and it's been great. it gets them used to the water. it's great exercise for them. it teaches them to hold their breath under water. And it's fun for them! ours started at 4 months

My son was 6 months when I put him in a mommy and me swim class but it wasn’t worth it. If you can find one that’s actually worth it then I say it’s worth it.

Oh I’m already so excited to put this baby in swim classes, first of all it’s great to get them in the water early and if nothings else it’s a great activity for the two of you the enjoy together.
