Obgyn or midwife??

Question

I had my first doctors appointment today at 5+1weeks. He asked me if I would be going with an obgyn or a midwife. I don’t know what the difference would be. Any thoughts? Which is better in your opinion??

hey! So per this book I'm reading: Obgyns are more preventative in there care. They treat it more so like a medical condition and they can be anxiety provoking at time. They are good if you have had prior miscarriages or you are high risk, they are good if you may need surgery etc etc. midwives on the other hand are more laidback. They will treat your pregnancy like a common life experience many go through. if your pregnancy isn't high risk, you have no issues with fertility, and no prior miscarriages, and you want a more easy going experience a midwife might be a better fit for you.

I would just make sure you are in a hospital that has ob backup at the very least if you go with midwife. You could have the most normal pregnancy and still have a complicated delivery. 
I prefer physicians, but I work in healthcare and have seen crazy things and that’s what I trust. It is definitely a personal decision!
