What should have happened?
A YouTube family vlogging channel that I watch posted about their experience with a Disney cruise line.
While her and her family were waiting for their room keys once boarded in the ship, she was informed she wouldn't be able to stay. Disney policy states that any woman 24 weeks or greater pregnant, would not be allowed passage. She showed her doctors note with her doctors approval for travel, but was told that wasn't good enough.
They went to customer service to discuss their issue with this, and were treated terribly. The workers were extremely rude, laughing, not helpful, and simply weren't doing anything to give them a good customer service experience.
Once things got a little escalated, law enforcement was sent out holding Assault Rifles to monitor the situation. Things continued to escalate between the family and the workers as they called them out on being rude, leaving people's social security card in arms reach/plain view, etc. They were waiting for their final luggage when they were told they would have to wait outside.
They have 2 young children (2y & 1y) and it was hot outside. They were told it didn't matter, and they were escorted outside by the officer with the gun. They were told they would receive their luggage once the ship left the dock. I'm not sure of the exact time they waited, but those babies cheeks were BRIGHT red when they finally got their stuff.
So my question is this:
Is Disney is the right for this situation?
A. YES- 100%. Policy enforcement, customer service, law enforcement presence how it was, etc.
B. NO- 100%. She had a doctor's note and it was one week, they could have made an exception. Everything was also uncalled for.
C. 50/50. Policy is policy and she should have verified before the trip, but the rest is uncalled for.
Bonus: She gave her footage to the media that showed up, but they cut out so much of it. Here are pictures of the news article. Her YouTube name is The Jackson Hive if you want to go check out her footage of the situation.
