Do you think the government should keep us more informed?

I'm watching a documentary on 9/11 and why the government didn't prevent it, how it could've been prevented, etc. I don't know if it's conspiracy theory type of documentary per say, but call it what you will. They were talking a bit about the government recording conversations before 9/11, freedom of information act, and how files are still "top secret". 
Now, there are many different conspiracy theories on multiple different things from 9/11 to Area 51 to the government intentionally making us sick. Here is the poll question: Do you think we should be more informed about what our government is doing? 
BONUS QUESTIONS:
•Do you think things like 9/11 reports should be disclosed since it's been so long after the fact? 
•What do you think would happen if we were made aware that the government was behind terrorist attacks in general? 
•If you think things should be disclosed, should we know everything or is there a line we should draw? 
•Do you think if we were more informed,  conspiracy theories would simmer down or stop?

I think it would create mass hysteria whilst also alerting potential terrorists to current weak spots in our security.

There’s a great deal of hard facts out in 9/11. The commission report was published in full for anyone to read. That didn’t quell conspiracy theory nonsense though. If things are still classified it’s probably because of ongoing work. 9/11 really wasn’t all that long ago. Many of the terrorist networks are still operational. 
I don’t believe in placing blind trust in the government, but there is legitimate reasons for things to remain away from public view. 
Also, Area 51 information was already declassified in 2013. NPR did a story on it called: There It Is! Area 51 Revealed In Declassified CIA Report.

I think transparency is a good thing and that governments are prone to abuse when secrecy is abundant. However, I also understand the great need for classifying and protecting data to protect national security (and, by extension, public security). A lot of classified data must remain so for at least 50 years, and one good reason is because it could reveal sources (people) and methods (technology) used to collect that information. If you do that, informants are now at risk and the value of our technological assets could potentially be reduced.

IDK bc even when given info ppl rarely take action right then and there to find a solution to a problem; the gov will only let the ppl go so far when taking action, prime example is Standing Rock.

The reason why governments keep “secrets” is to prevent mass hysteria. I personally think they should keep it that way. Yeah, I’d love to know everything the government knows (or would I, honestly? I’m sure there’s tons of scary shit out there that we’re unaware of. Maybe I’m better off not knowing), but it’s more beneficial for everybody involved if certain information is kept secretive.

We’re already overly informed by the media & social media imo & it has caused more drama than I thought possible over the past few years. Besides, no one trusts the government anymore so no matter what they say, people will always be paranoid they’re being misled once again. I’m not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but I don’t believe much of anything the government says & would rather work on building some trust back between the American citizens & the government it elects. Then maybe we could explore a more open line of communication.

Brace yourself.. I’m a paranoid soul. 
I’m assuming that the US government is being discussed, in which case, I don’t think the government should keep the people more informed. My reasoning is different to the others. Yeah, it would cause panic. But if the government kept people more informed, in my opinion, it’s gonna give the people a false sense of security, increased levels of ignorant patriotism and warped minds. Why? Because I don’t believe for one second that the information released would be accurate and unbiased. If the government are releasing information about themselves in an attempt of full disclosure with the people or whatever, I think it’s safe to say that the information can’t be trusted. Trump supporters exist, that’s shocking enough. If something like this happened, you’re all doomed. You’ll be sucked into the lies and will officially be Trumped.
If the government was caught out for being behind terrorist attacks, then nothing. What would change? It would be buried under the rug, behind an elaborate cover up. Other countries rely on the US as an ally of whatever kind, so they’re not gonna take any major action. The American people will be fed information to make it all seem legit. Not everyone would fall for it, but enough will. As is generally the case. One thing I’ve learned on Glow is that many Americans hold weird, exaggerated views about the rest of the world, based on what they see on the news. This tells me that Americans are fed exaggerated bull-turd left, right and centre. I’m not suggesting that everyone falls for it though - I’ve come across people on here who obviously think for themselves and make effort to educate themselves properly. But generally, from across some lands, it seems like the general population of Americans are unstable at the hands of the government and media. More so than the rest of the planet. 
If people are more informed, conspiracy theories would probably increase - more information provides more material for a paranoid mind.
