pain?

Me and my boyfriend have been trying out a bunch of things. We’re both really inexperienced, but I have a feeling that he’ll finger me soon. I’ve never done this to myself because it feels wrong, but I don’t have a problem if he was doing it to me. I guess I don’t like the way my vagina feels when I touch it, but it feels perfectly fine when he touches me there. I’ve tried touching myself before but it kind of hurt. Is it supposed to? How can I fix this? Advice please?
