copper iud

I'm thinking about getting on the copper iud after I have my baby. I really don't want to get on hormones but I know I need to be on birth control. I've heard bad reviews like making periods horrible and sex uncomfortable but I wanted to see what your experiences were. before my pregnancy I only had my period a few times a year, not sure if that will play a role in how my periods will be with the copper iud. I really want to be without hormones but know I'm protected
