Would you apply for government assistance?

IF YOU QUALIFIED  for government assistance  (food stamps, housing etc) as a single parent but you were making it just fine without it, would you take advantage of it anyway?                                                     This is my current situation and my mother keeps pressuring me to go apply because I don't receive anything, not even child support from my son's father.  What would you do?

i have always felt its there if you NEED it. i always thought that if i took it without actually needing it that it would almost be like taking it away from someone who possibly needed it more. i know it doesnt work like that, but there is only so much money to go round. if you think you could be in a more comfortable spot by getting help with food then please do, but if not leave if for the families who cant live without it. its only suppose to be a temporary help not 18 years until your child is an adult.

Yes because you qualify for a reason. Your taxes pay for it as well so why not?

If you qualify than way not.  It is hard to get government assistance than most people think.  If you don’t want to and you and your kids/kid is okay than don’t.  But think of this if you get that could be more money going into savings.

I receive assistance from the government because I'm low income and don't have a good paying job.Once I finish college and get a better job. Bye Bye Government

Absolutely not. Some parents actually need that assistance. If I don't need it then I'm not applying for it.

We only have medicaid well hubby and the kids have medicaid i recently switched to medicare since im ssd but we do everything else ourselves both kids got formula without wic we dont do food stamps
