RAISING AWARENESS FOR CERVICAL INCOMPETENCE!
March 19th 2018 at 23w1d I went in for a check up with my ob to see if my placenta previa was getting any better, but my appointment took a turn for the worst as soon as they started scanning. Our hearts dropped as they told us that I was starting to dialate and that the membrane sac was dumbbelling from my cervix and I would be admitted to the hospital until baby arrived (which could be any minute). When we arrived at the hospital they put me in a triage room and for the next 3 weeks they pumped me full of all kinds of meds to help baby grow and stop the preterm labor. April 6th at 11:00 am i started having contractions which they gave me meds to stop late that night, but they didn’t work. All through the night I had contractions and in the morning they gave me another med to stop labor which seemed to help. Next thing we knew our doctor came in and said they had reason to believe that the membranes had caused an infection because my white blood cell count was through the roof and that we needed to deliver our baby today. My heart literally shattered. At 25w6d i was not ready to deliver my baby. A few hours later and a long story short our sweet and strong girl arrived. April 7th 8:21pm we met our 1lb 13oz badass daughter. (She is doing amazing and breathing on her own)  Though we didn’t plan for this to be the way everything happened, I’m so glad i have been given the opportunity to be a mommy to a micro preemie. We have a long road ahead, but I just wanted to share for other mommy’s in similar situations.
