Ovulation testing

I’m curious what everyone’s opinion on the accuracy of ovulation test strips. I took some last month regularly and only ever got a faint second line, never a positive.. I thought maybe I missed it so blew it off. This month I have yet to get a second line at all. Not even a faint line.. I’m worried Bc I’m 35 and already have issues with regular periods (I take progesterone every month days 15-24). Does this mean I’m not ovulating at all?? Also I guess I don’t know how to properly check my CM and know it’s the egg white consistency. Any answers or suggestions? We’ve been TTC for 7+ years and I already have a 15 yr old from previous marriage.
