is NIPT testing normal for a 20 year old?

im 20 turning 21 this year, and this is my first child. im 11 weeks this week and my dr scheduled me next week for an NIPT testing. i didnt mind it and was kind excited since you can find out the gender then, but everyone old me that it was weird that im having that test done at 20 years since they normally dont do it unless youre over 35. i looked up on my kaiser website and there too it said they normally only ever do it if youre over 35. does this mean the dr thinks something is wrong? is this really not normal?
