How long did your Dr. tell you to wait for the second appointment?

I went in today for my first appointment. No sonogram at 7 weeks. I was kind of disappointed but whatever. Then she tells me I’ll see u in 6 weeks. Omg so I won’t see my baby until I’m like 3 1/2 months! 😩 what if there’s two?
This is my first pregnancy, no complicated medical history, no genetic concern, I get it I’m usually easy peasy but I wanted to see it!!!!

I had a prenatal appt at 5 weeks, my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, then my next appt is at 12 weeks

It's usually every 4 weeks till you reach 36ish weeks then every 2 till you deliver

So it’s normal with some doctors to not give an ultrasound at all except when you go in for the 20 week ultrasound. But 6 weeks for your next appointment seems long. I thought it’s ever 4 weeks until you get to like 30 weeks or so?

check to see if there's an answer ultrasound school nearby! they usually perform them for free.  
I had my first US at 8w because of bleeding and then another is scheduled at 12w because I have a first degree family member with spina bifida.  
pregnancy crisis centers could also perform them but they may charge depending on your income and aren't technically "health care" facilities so HIPAA and other regulations don't apply to them so be careful if you do go that route.

I think if you haven’t had any previous complications it’s probably normal. My doctor does appointments every 4 weeks for the first 2 trimesters. And my first ultrasound won’t be til week 12. I think everyone on here has different providers, insurance companies, and needs- a lot of people getting earlier ultrasounds. Don’t get discouraged! You could just ask your doctor - They may have a reason for waiting.

my ob Dr does ultrasounds at every appt he caught placenta previa that way and cords around baby neck so he knew to prepare for that and he keeps track of growth and measures to make sure everything is going good. maybe find another dr ask around I have more peace of mind and my husband comes to appts to see the baby we always found out gender at 14-15 weeks but with this pregnancy he wants to order blood work for genetic testing and it shows gender so I'll know in two weeks if I'm having a boy or girl!!! I'm only 8 weeks and 5 days but baby is measuring 9 weeks! find a Dr you like and feel comfortable with!

6 weeks is freaking wild though...if you aren't too attached to her I'd find another provider. most places have you get an ultrasound every 4 weeks in the first trimester

I was told I couldn't have another ultrasound until 4 weeks. but I have two insurance providers, one being Kaiser so I just scheduled my "first" ultrasound with Kaiser for 8 weeks instead of me having to wait till I'm 10 weeks (;
