spotting ... again ...

has anyone experienced a healthy pregnancy while spotting often... I'm currently 7w6d and spotting again, this is the 4-5 time since week 5. Mild on and off cramping today and some changes in symptoms. I have a scan scheduled for next week Thursday and unfortunately my Dr is away until then and can't be seen sooner. I don't know if I should go to e.r. just to get some reassurance with a scan or just monitor and wait. my last pregnancy I never spotted ,so I'm unsure if this is something normal or something concerning .. spotting is minimal so far and no clots. I should add I had an early scan at 6 weeks to rule out ectopic and saw baby and heartbeat so everything seemed normal and on track
