feeding question...

my one year old won't use utensils. He picks his food up with his fingers to eat but if it's something that requires a spoon like cereal or yougurt, he won't pick up the spoon himself and just opens his mouth waiting for me to feed him... I even try to put the spoon in his hand and he won't do it...is this too old for him to be doing this? and do you have any tips to get him to use his utensils? thank you☺
