How long does it typically take to hear back from a job?

I’m talking about after applying, how long does it take to hear back for an interview? 
I started applying last week on Wednesday. So a lot of places had only had my application or resume for about a week. I heard it can take up to two weeks for someone to hear back. Is that true? I applied to over 15 places. I’ve already heard back from one place but it might not work out. Does anyone have any advice?! 
I might not be able to pay my bills this month and I’m freaking out

It’s unlikely to be honest that’ll you’ll start a job and get a pay check this month. As most companies may run on a two week pay schedule and there are only two weeks left in the month. You may very well start a job this month, but a pay check may not come in time to pay your bills. Can you uber? Pick up some work from mturk?

I applied to a job about three weeks ago. It took about a week for them to contact me for an interview. Once I got the interview I asked them when I should expect a phone call if they did decide to hire me. They told me about a week. I got a phone call. I’m hired!!😊 haha anyways, main point: it was about a three week process. Hope this advice helps and everything works out for you!:)

It’s hard to say because it depends on the place, if they’re actively hiring at the moment, and how many applications they’ve gotten.
