does your 18 month old know a lot of words?

my toddler knows maybe 9-10 words up till now and I worry it isnt much. my doctor says its exactly what she should be at but I still worry as I have a family member that says she doesn't know a lot of words because she doesn't go to daycare.

Wow now I feel like my son is behind...he attends Daycare and is very smart but only says: mama, dadda, daddy, no, yeah, hi, buh bye, uh oh, muah (blows kisses when he says it), wow, and babbles on and on with “stories” but not sure what he’s saying lol.

my son can only say a few words. he points and whines more than anything. i knows about 7 or 8 words. im not worried about it yet, but hopefully he starts talking more soon. it is also just him and i at home alot as dad works out of town. i try to talk to him but i dont talk as kuch as i should im sure.

My son consistently says mama, daddy, uh-oh, and no. There are a few other word/word phrases that we think he’s saying, but it’s not regular enough for me to count them. He just babbles away.

My son isn’t in daycare but we have been using cue cards with him for about 6 months and he knows pretty much every word we use on a daily basis and then some. We spend 2-3 min teaching him a new word and he catches on right Away.

This is where we are at. She has a very random list 🤣 I was starting to be nervous about it. We nanny a 21 month old and so I was comparing when I shouldn’t have. This list has doubled in the last two weeks. Give it time and enjoy books and conversation whenever she wants. They change immensely between 18-20 months.

My lo was at 9-10 words but now I try to have her learn a “focus” word every few days or so. Make a game out of it!! She is behind where my now 7 year old was at her age but each baby is different and will eventually get it!

my son knows about 10 words... mom,dad,no,cheese,bath,baba,dog,bye,ice,num-num... he points for the rest. my first only knew like 5 words or less at 18 months and i was told not to worry hes now 12 and wont stop talking...
