Procedure to open fallopian tubes?

PLEASE HELLLP
My gyno suggested I get a procedure done that goes in through the vagina & Into your fallopian tubes to see if they are blocked? It's a small tube that's inserted & releases ink into the tubes & take an xray. I have been trying for almost 2 yrs & unfortunately the reason I might have to do this is because I contracted chlamydia & didnt know I did for possibly a yr. She said any STD can scar & damage your fallopian tubes especially if it's not treated right away. So she sent out the authorization to my insurance & she told me that my insurance doesn't cover infertility treatments & I would be denied, therefore I had 6 months to try on my own again with all the advice & later I had the choice to pay cash for the treatment. She also told me she did the treatment herself & that it was painful & they use a weight to prop your vagina open & that she would still reccomend me do it IF the insurance happened to cover............
& bam today I got a call from my insurance telling me I got approved!!!!

WTF! I'm scared what do I do ? I need advice please! who's done this procedure & what was your outcome ? who would do it?

It’s uncomfortable but it really isn’t that bad. 
You should do it. It will ensure everything is functioning properly.

It was painful for me but totally worth it. My tubes were obstructed and the test actually pushed my obstruction though! The test will be over in less than 2 minutes! I’ve seen where some women have zero pain at all so you never know!

Take plenty of ibuprofen an hour before procedure. Mine was just extremely uncomfortable. I had 1 blocked tube, and I could feel the pressure as she was squeezing more dye, but it was relieved when the dye finally made it through. Supposedly it increases your rate of pregnancy for the next 3 months. I had random cramping the rest of that day and the day after. Day after I also had bright red blood (not enough to fill a tampon or soak through my jeans,  but enough to scare me). They also said not to worry if you have weird color discharge because that's the ink coming back out.

Lots of people that have the procedure (HSG) get pregnant within the first few cycles following the HSG. Go for it! It’s quick and can be painful if you have a blockage. However, sometimes it could be a minor blockage of debris and the dye can push that out! Good luck!!!

I had my HSG yesterday and just wanted to add, as Ive been reading a lot (ha, don't do all the reading, talk to the doctor); the increased pregnancy rates are dependent on what type of dye used. I believe that only oil-based dyes increases rates by 2-3x for 2-3 cycles. Water-based dyes or mixed dyes don't do anything - so just don't get your hopes up too much about that part. Other than that, the HSG sucked, but at least we now have more answers. We paid $850 for it, which is more expensive than any of the other basic tests, but we'll worth it.

It was VERY painful for me but I’ve had a few issues with my lady parts and with the various treatments my cervix is “tighter” (ob/gyn’s term, not mine). I had the test done at the end of March and it gave us A LOT of answers and the RE confirmed that this was the best test fore to determine what was causing the issue. I live in MN and none of our testing was covered by insurance so we’ve paid for everything out of pocket.
