Road Trip Advice ?

Question

This weekend will be the first long trip with the baby (7 weeks old). It's a 3 hour car ride to visit family and we will be staying the weekend. Any advice you have that helped you survive the first overnight trip anywhere would be greatly appreciated !!!

Answer

Yes. Babies at that age need frequent breaks (getting out of the car seat). This is important because when they can’t hold their head up themselves, being in a car seat for long periods of time can make their oxygen levels drop. Honestly when we traveled with baby at that age for any lengthy car rides - I rode in back with baby so I could ensure she was okay and breathing well. Overall I found that age made for pretty easy traveling. 
Other than that, I’d just bring what’s familiar to the baby (particularly regarding any bedtime associations the baby may have).
