how much does weight effect ttc?

my husband and I are both over weight. we have been trying to get pregnant for awhile but nothing yet. I am wondering if our weight could be effecting our getting pregnant and if so is it worth it to lose weight? anyone ever lose weight and then get pregnant?

It depends. I got pregnant the fastest (6 weeks) at my heaviest. At my lightest it took over a year. It just seems to depend on the person somewhat.

I never got pregnant before ever, then I lost 8stone in a year, 2 days ago I got a faint positive, I think weight affects it a lot!! :)

idk if this helps but I am morbidly obese and my husband is just a few pounds overweight and we've been trying for several months now and my doc rules out pcos right off the bat and said it was most likely my weight. being overweight can mess up your hormones and in my case I think she's right. I'm struggling to lose the weight but I'm trying. I hope everything works out for you

It’s always best to try to be as healthy as possible when trying for a baby. Weight is just one of the many many factors that can affect fertility
