Doctor wouldnt check me...

Im 35 weeks and went to the doctor he asked what had been going on and i told him i lost parts of my mucus plug and the other day i had painful contractions for almost 2 hours so i was worried about being dialated... He said he wont check me until im 37 weeks because it can irritate the cervix and make it dialate more... has anyone else heard this? Then he said if i had painful contractions for 2 hours,lost parts of my mucus plug, and have had 2 children already he can guarantee im at least a 2??? im just nervous...
