Possible Gastroschisis?! I am a wreck!

Question

I had US at 9 weeks and 5 days. Dr said it looked like some intestine could be outside of abdomen but that he couldn’t tell for certain because it could have been umbilical cord he was seeing. He wants to rescan in 2 weeks because if it doesn’t return to abdominal cavity (which it will do in the next 2 weeks) then it will be gastroschisis. This means baby will require surgery after birth and possibly be fatal if especially severe. I need any advice or experience with this, especially related to cases resolving. Thanks in advance. Please pray for my baby and also for me that I have the nerves to withstand the next 2 weeks.

my ex had this when he was born and he had over 70% of his insides on the outside of his body when he was born, besides a wonky scar, he functioned perfectly normal and had no issues after the surgery, and this was back in the 90s, i know it’s scary but little one just probably wont have a belly button. they have to tell you that it could be fatal bc theres always a chance but all the surgery entails is putting the bowels back in in the right order, i know it’s worrisome but i’m sure everything will be alright, just stay positive

Sounds like me - my doctor said there’s a “mid gut herniation” but he said it’s physiologically normal at this time and almost always resolved itself by week 12.  The intestines grow faster than the abdomen at this time so they bulge out until the abdomen catches up.  I’m not worrying about it unless my 12 week scan shows it hasn’t resolved.
