Iron pills doing the opposite?

I'm 30 weeks and my doctor said I'm anemic. He said my levels were fine then out of no where in at a 10 blood count. I guess 12+ is normal. He told me "wow you're going to feel so much better you just be so tired with no energy." Actually I've been just fine so I thought that was weird.

So I split them up in 1/4 and worked my way up to the whole pill due to nausea they cause. But since I've been taking the whole pill, I have NO energy. I'm overly tired, I'm taking naps with my 2 year old. I have zero energy, there doing the opposite, this whole pregnancy has been fine until now. Is this normal?
