Twin Moms - how long did you need daily help?

Question

My question is this... how long did it take for you to feel like you could manage your twins daily on your own? I'm expecting twins in October and am fortunate to be able to stay home with them after their birth for as long as is needed. We also have family willing to move to the area to help. How long will I be needing their help? I'm just trying to get a sense of end date for their extended stay. Help is great, but family can be stressful!

Girl I am stay at home mom with twins. I did it without help being a first time mom. It's not that hard I promise. Maybe for a month or so just so you can get used to the routine. It's scary but once they get home you just figure it out.

It’s very different for each mom. The first month was incredibly intense. The first three months I had regular help from the grandmas. And just when you have a handle on things there will be a sleep regression or a sick baby or something to knock you off guard. Just be gentle with yourself. Take all the help you can ( and that is actually helpful to you). Make lists of things people can do to help. And don’t feel bad about napping with the babies and letting someone else do your dishes and laundry.

Curious to know too! My husband is taking a week off when they are born and then once he’s back to work my mom is taking a week off to stay with me and the babies. So after that I’ll pretty much be on my own!

Well... I think that you manage alone when basically you don’t have other option.
I had tons of help the first 3 months (including a night nurse who took care of them the whole night till 8am) and I still felt that I couldn’t manage. Then suddenly I had to move to another country and was faced with my new reality of being on my own while my husband worked the whole day. I cried and the first 2 weeks were very tough but then you get used to it.
It is A MUST to find a sleep training method that suits you and follow it like your life depends on it -because it does-. Personally, I read “On Becoming Babywise”, and loved it!
