Forgiving ex of 4 years?

I've been hateful and resenting him for years mainly because of how badly he hurt me. Well with the finding of Christ I've decided to finally forgive him??? I don't know on wether or not it was a good idea yet because I just sent him a very long and very personal Facebook message. But has anyone else had to forgive someone for hurting them? It wasn't easy to send it much less type it out. I hope he takes it as a big forgiveness method and not a I want you back in my life.
Because I'm really trying to let go of the pain I felt with him, he wasn't the best but neither was I. I just hope it ends well so I can move on.

If he comes to you thinking it's a 'take me back' letter, just tell him it's not as kindly and as plainly as you can. He may not respond at all and that's okay too. You let him know you've forgiven him and that's all you can do. Release your letter and your ex to the Lord. Lay them down at his feet and resist the temptation to pick them back up again. God is with you and now is the time for you to let him heal and restore you. ❤️

Same page girl. I forgave my ex of five years for all that he’s put me through. It feels great. It’s such a relief. He’s texted me when it would have been our six years. I ignored him. He texted me asking when the partner position would be open  in my life again. I told him that it is no longer available to him, ever. And to kindly stop messaging me. I have no hate in my heart for him.
