Milk Supply

Had baby girl 1 week ago. She latches on fine and is breast feeding. I began pumping on Day 4 to begin getting my milk supply up, and so daddy can feed baby at night when I'm sleep.... Has anyone else tried this or started pumping early on? what has been your experience with milk supply?
