Bleeding after First Time

Okay so I'm 18 and my boyfriend (also 18) and I had sex for the first time (both of us are virgins) due to some discomfort on my end we ended up stopping before fully finishing either of us. I noticed afterwards that I was bleeding (which I'm assuming is from my hymen tearing) but how long does this bleeding last? This was roughly 22 hours ago as of this post and I'm still spottily bleeding. Is it possible it's my period that came early (I'm on birth control) If its from sex last night is it normal to have spotting this long?
