Ovulation

This is my first time trying to get pregnant. I was on the pill for roughly 7 years and got off it a year ago. We have only just started trying but I feel nervous that I possibly don’t ovulate. My cycles are usually 40 days but sometimes have lasted 50-55. Has anyone else had irregular cycles and still easily conceived? And around what day in your cycle did you ovulate and how did you know? Any advise appreciated xx
