PSA if you're not sure if it's early labor, it's best to go in
Hello everyone. I wanted to post because I often see ladies out here experiencing symptoms of early labor and they want to know from the glow community if they should be seen. I wanted to share my experience. This is my third pregnancy, and I am 31 weeks. On Sunday i was having Braxton Hicks contractions. Not painful, just there and annoying. I'm not a stranger to preterm labor, I had it with my twins 10 years ago but did not with my single pregnancy 6 years ago. But regardless, I decided after 2 hours of noticble Braxton Hicks, I would lay down for a while and see if it helped. After 1.5 hours of laying and drinking water, I decided to time the contractions, which still were NOT painful. They were coming about every 4 minutes. I called my ob office, already knowing they were going to tell me to go in. I felt stupid because they were just Braxton Hicks and I knew they'd probably look me over and send me home. Well, I ended up testing positive for "FebroFibronectin" (spelling?) which is an indicator that you have a 50% chance of delivering within 2 weeks. Luckily I never got past .5 cm dilated and my cervix didn't thin at all. They ended up giving me steroid shots to develop babies lungs faster and I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. I'm home now, but on bedrest, hoping to cook my little guy for as long as possible.
Thanks for reading my long post, I just wanted to share my story to say it's always best to get checked out, even if you think you're being silly or paranoid, because it could be serious!
